Executive Producer|Book & Lyrics

Whether onstage or behind the scenes, Denise McGowan Tracy has been immersed in Chicago’s live entertainment and events scene for more than 30 years.  In 2014 she began a new chapter writing her first book, Eleanor’s Very Merry Christmas Wish. Now, Holiday 2019 will see the book become a musical with the creation of Eleanor’s Very Merry Christmas Wish – The Musical which is the perfect marriage of McGowan’s entertainment, events and marketing careers.

Many Chicagoans know Denise as the producer and co-host, with Beckie Menzie, of Petterino’s Monday Night Live the popular, impromptu musical showcase celebrating its 12TH Anniversary in September, 2019.  For over 500 shows, McGowan and Menzie have welcomed singers to this unique “open mic” in a sophisticated, modern supper club atmosphere.  Featuring the best and brightest national, regional and aspiring cabaret, jazz and musical theater singers every week, Monday Night Live has welcomed over 700 musical guests including Tony Award winners, cast members of top touring and local theatrical productions including Hamilton, Come From Away, Jersey Boys, Wicked, Brigadoon, Avenue Q, Spamilton, The Lyric Opera Production of West Side Story, … and many, many more.

In the 1980’s Denise opened, managed and, in a twist of fate, served as Emcee at the now storied Byfield’s nightclub in the Ambassador East Hotel.  A Lettuce Entertain You creation, Byfield’s introduced “newcomers” including Ellen Degeneres, Kevin Nealon, Karen Mason, Richard Lewis and others to Chicago audiences. Byfield’s became “the” cabaret spot in town headlining established artists like Maureen McGovern and Mort Sahl.

As Manager then Director of Entertainment at Navy Pier from 1995 until 2004 she produced headliners like Harvey Korman and Tim Conway, Pat Benatar,  and dozens of other acts in tandem with Jam Productions and others at Skyline Stage.

She also directed two in-house performance troupes, dozens of live stage productions, holiday programming included Halloween events and Winter WonderFest, booked over 300 bands at the Beer Garden annually and supervised over 300 fireworks shows

As an event producer, her client roster includes the Congressional Medal of Honor Convention 2008, The Art Institute of Chicago, Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises, The American Bar Association and numerous private clients.  In 2010 she founded DMT Entertainment & Events, a full-service event and entertainment production and management firm that produces a variety of high-profile, often private events.  With her team of professionals, she has produced events for 25 – 1250 people featuring headline performers including Martin Short, Jay Leno, Bernadette Peters, Natalie Cole and The Beach Boys.  The tagline, “Creation to Ovation”, says it all.

With the creation of “Eleanor,” she adds “Theatrical Producer” to an already impressive resume. www.dmtentertainment.com
